Fishing in California, A brief look

California is one of the more popular states for the US angler. It's freshwater rivers and fishing lakes provide more than twenty game fish species. California offers many mountain ranges including its most famous the Sierra Nevada, which form a black-bass fishing haven near the Nevada border to the north.

The coastal mountains line the Pacific coast and provide amble fishing on numerous streams that empty into the ocean every few miles. The rugged California coast offers sandy beaches where saltwater surf-fishermen can catch anything from perch to striped bass. Rock fishing in California is prevalent as there are thousands of inlets and rock-studded indentations along the coast. Trout fishing in Merced River in California's Yosemite Park is a great fishing option. For steelhead fishing head to Klamath River in northern California, which offers winter and summer-run fishing.
